Microtransactions firm PlaySpan announced Monetization-as-a-Service (MaaS), a new platform combining seven layers of monetization features into a single online payment service. The "MaaS Stack" allows publishers to manage funding sources, micro-payment wallet/subscriptions, in-app optimized/UI, storefronts/marketplaces, risk management, analytics dashboard/developer console, and customer support, all via a "PCI and SAS-70 compliant hosted service with open web services APIs". Along with its subscription, ecommerce, micropayment, analytics, and fraud management tools, MaaS takes advantage of PlaySpan's UltimatePay, which offers more than 85 global payments options in over 180 countries, including credit carts, PayPal, mobile payments, and PlaySpan's Ultimate Game Card. The monetization firm says MaaS will give developers the potential to see a "substantial enhancement" in their top-line revenues from higher conversion rates and higher ARPPUs (average revenue per paying user), as well as a significant bottom-line improvement in their cost savings. PlaySpan adds that the platform enables companies to set up a global payment system for social/free-to-play games and rapidly scale up a service in a matter of days -- the firm claims that companies typically spend months implementing and executing similar operations properly. "We invested significantly from both engineering resources and our extensive knowledge and expertise derived from over eleven years in the payments and digital goods business," says PlaySpan CEO Karl Mehta. "Our sophisticated MaaS solution addresses and solves the complex needs of all online businesses - large and small. Mehta adds, "Its seven layers of integrated services were designed specifically to provide a comprehensive one-stop solution for CEOs and CFOs to gain full control over their online revenue and scale rapidly.
