Officials from UK based technology firm Blade Interactive, developers of the recently announced HydroEngine real-time fluid dynamics engine, have announced InfiniteWorldsGCS, a new development platform designed for use in creating video games. According to Blade officials, the new platform interfaces directly with the HydroEngine middleware, and like HydroEngine, InfiniteWorldsGCS is being used to create Blade’s upcoming survival adventure game Hydrophobia, currently in development for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Key features of InfiniteWorldsGCS include that its editor and data store are separate form each other, allowing for "maximum data security and automatic backups of every change to the game environment." In addition, officials note that the platform allows multiple users to work in the same level at the same time, "with ID tagging and full history management by ID." "InfiniteWorldsGCS is the most comprehensive, flexible and powerful game creation tool available; it places the designers in the driving seat and at the same time unifies the whole production process," commented Gary Leach, Blade’s development director. He continued: "InfiniteWorldsGCS is more than just a level editor, it is an underlying architecture, which can interface with bespoke editors tailored to individual game projects. It provides real-time visualization on whatever target platform(s) the project requires, with immediate turnaround for brainstorming ideas – design it, build it and then try it out immediately in-game and on-platform."
