Game development software company Wintsch Labs has announced the release of DirectForms and DirectForms Designer 2005, two software packages constructed to make the designing and implementation of user interface components easier for game developers. According to Wintsch Labs, DirectForms is a library designed to implement DirectX based user interface components for games and other 3D applications, while DirectForms Designer 2005 is a graphical editor that allows for creation and editing of DirectForms systems. The system generates editable code files that compile into developer’s game engines. These tie in to the render loop of the game engine with only four lines of code. Currently, the DirectForms library is targeted at CSharp language output but can easily be used to generate C++ language. A trial version of DirectForms Designer 2005 (which includes a trial version of DirectForms) is available for download from the Wintsch Labs website, while a technology demo is noted to be forthcoming.
