Product: Garritan Launches New Software Instruments

Officials from audio software developer Garritan announced the launch of the Garritan Software Instrument Division and showcased the company's new line of software musical instrument products at the annual CES trade event in Las Vegas this week. According to a statement released by the company, the primary goal of this new division is to “develop sample-based and synthesized software musical instruments using a new sample player.” Garritan Libraries are used in classes at leading music colleges and universities, while its software instruments are used in a variety of applications, from TV shows, film and attractions to video games, live concerts and ballets. At the CES event, the company is demonstrating its virtual Steinway Piano, in collaboration with major piano manufacturer Steinway and Sons. Also being shown is the new Concert and Marching Band, a collection of software band instruments to create realistic sounding band arrangements. Also being shown is the Gofriller Solo Cello, which takes advantage of Sonic Morphing technology in order to produce its unique sound. Like image morphing, this basic concept has been applied to sound samples allowing the samples to blend into and transform from one sound to another. Finally, at CES Garritan will preview a new sampler with a unique user interface that allows the user to select, load, manipulate and mix software and sampled instruments in one single graphical environment.
