Tools company Luxology has announced that modo, its 3D modeling, painting and rendering software built on the modo code base, was awarded "Best OS X Graphics" at the 11th Annual Apple Design Awards at Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) held this week in San Francisco. The Mac OS X version of modo combines modeling advancements with high-end 3D painting and rendering technologies in a modern workflow customized to enhance productivity for 3D artists working in game development, film visual effects, video production, graphic arts and design visualization. The latest version of modo, version 202, was recently unveiled during SIGGRAPH 2006 in Boston, and features performance 42 percent faster than modo 201, as well as improvements to the software's tool set and overall more streamlined workflow. Registered modo 201 customers can upgrade to modo 202 free of charge, and a free 30-day full-featured evaluation version is now available for immediate download from the software's official website. "With so many outstanding entries this year, we are particularly gratified that modo was recognized for excellence in OS X graphics," said Brad Peebler, president and co-founder of Luxology. "We take a lot of pride in having developed a modern software architecture that delivers both performance and an artistic user experience."
