OTEE announced that it has released the 1.5 update to Unity, its 3D content toolset. The Unity tool itself is available for Mac OS X, but allows Mac executables, Windows executables, and browser versions to be created in a single action from the same tool. Unity 1.5 features improvements to nearly all areas of the toolset, including a new animation system that now supports animation blending, mixing, additive animations, walk cycle time-synchronization, animation layers, control over all aspects of the animation playback (time, speed, blend-weights), and mesh skinning with 1, 2 or 4 bones per vertex (can be controlled with quality settings) – in addition to the classic ragdolls. Other additions include a universal binary, Windows plug in, mesh script interface, textures script interface, particle script interface, high-speed car physics, lightmap support, and support for TrueType typography. The new version also includes native support for Cinema 4D, as well as five time the documentation of previous releases. In addition to these major updates, Unity 1.5 also includes more than 256 new small features and improvements over the previous version, most of which are detailed on the official website.
