Publisher SouthPeak Games has announced a new PlayStation 3 version of the previously 360/PC exclusive Monster Madness, with an "all new polished look" and "improved game elements," to be developed by Raleigh, NC studio Psyonix. Originally designed by Florida's Artificial Studios, the new PlayStation 3 version will contain all of the original four player monster brawling features, but add a number of extras. Southpeak says the new version, titled Monster Madness: EX, will have "tightened controls, a host of mini-games, a polished camera and newly built in extras." Psyonix's Dave Hagewood adds that "It is exciting for us to expand upon this game and to add new content and gameplay. We are broadening the experience of Monster Madness on the PlayStation 3 system to more players than ever before." Specializing on what it calls "short-cycle game development and expertise in Unreal Engine technology," Psyonix has previously worked on titles such as Red Orchestra and created the Onslaught mod for Unreal Tournament 2004. Said SouthPeak VP Melanie Mroz, “The Monster Madness series has a lot to offer gamers of all ages, whether they’re old school or new school. The top down camera combined with the co-op and online multiplayer make it the perfect title for the PlayStation 3 system.”
