Gamasutra is continuing its Quantum Leap awards, voted by professional game developers reading the site and honoring innovation in video games, asking for nominations for the Quantum Leap in multiplayer (non-MMO) gaming. Your pick for the award can be in any genre which has multiplayer aspects to it, whether it be a game from the '80s with multiple people playing on one console/PC, from the '90s with users playing on a LAN, or from the '00s with gamers playing over the Internet on a server. We're particularly looking for the one game at any time in the history of the industry that you feel brought multiplayer gaming forward to a new level or offered something particularly new, exciting, and innovative. (We are excluding MMO titles for now because we will address them in a separate award at a later date.) Thus, the question, which can be answered at the official Question Of The Week page until January 28th, is: "Which (non-MMO) video game has made the biggest 'quantum leap' in multiplayer gameplay?" This latest poll follows the successes of the the first 'Quantum Leap' award, for the FPS, the the second, for the RPG, the third, for storytelling, and the fourth, for 2006 Game Of The Year. As with the previous questions, the best responses will be compiled into an article to be published on the site, and users can either respond publically, with their name and company specifically cited, or anonymize their answers if they wish.
