Following Shigeru Miyamoto's inspirational keynote speech at this year's GDC, Gamasutra is asking for nominations (and justifications) for the one Nintendo-created game which created a Quantum Leap in the game industry. Over almost 30 years, Nintendo has established an amazing list of character franchises and games created internally by Miyamoto, Nintendo, and its first-party studios - many of which have taught game professionals whole new ways to approach games. Thus, the question, which can be answered at the official Question Of The Week page until the end of March 27th, is: "Which Nintendo-created video game has made the biggest 'quantum leap' for the game industry? Which aspects of its design and execution spurred the game biz to greater things?" (Any game that Nintendo has had a significant creative hand in making and publishing can be nominated, even if some of the execution was out of house - games such as Star Fox, Pilot Wings 64 and Pokemon would be eligible, for example.) This latest poll follows the successes of the the first 'Quantum Leap' award, for the FPS, the the second, for the RPG, the third, for storytelling, the fourth, for 2006 Game Of The Year, and the fifth, for multiplayer games. As with the previous questions, the best responses will be compiled into an article to be published on the site, and users can either respond publically, with their name and company specifically cited, or anonymize their answers if they wish.
