Fiscal Q2 profits were up 29 percent to 3.4 billion won ($2.9 million) at Seoul, South Korea Zenonia developer Gamevil, thanks to strong mobile game sales and fat profit margins. The company said Monday that franchises including the mobile games Nom 4, Hybrid 2: Saga of Nostalgia and new entries like the online game Illusia in Korea drove sales during the quarter ended June 30. Important global launches included App Store games Zenonia 2, the sequel to last year's action RPG and Soccer Superstars, plus the Android game Baseball Superstars 2010. Sales for the quarter were up 25 percent to 6.72 billion won ($5.78 million), the company said. Gamevil also noted a fat profit margin of 50 percent, driven by virtual goods sales and multiplatform expansion. Overseas revenues were up 52 percent year-on-year, and 100 percent quarter-on-quarter. "We're extremely happy with our continuous growth with high margins." said Yong Kuk Lee, Gamevil CFO in a statement. "International sales have been strong through distribution of Apple's App Store and Google's Android Market, while we maintain the leading position in the domestic market."
