Real Networks has released quarterly results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2005, a period ending June 30th, 2005. Revenue increased to $82.7 million, increasing 26 percent over the same period in fiscal year 2004. Net income was $4.7 million, or $0.03 per share. Although the majority of Real's revenue comes from other sources such as music download revenue from the Rhapsody service, the company's video game division performed well, growing 63 percent from the same period in fiscal year 2004. Gaming revenue totaled $13.6 million, an improvement over the $8.4 million from Q2 2004. Real's gaming division is focused on RealArcade Games, a web service that allows users to play games for free. The RealArcade client offers games such as Wheel of Fortune, Collapse II, Monopoly, Diamond Mine, and others, and a subscription-based model reduces the monthly price for buying specific games. The company maintained guidance for the full fiscal year of between $323 and $333 million in revenue, and has increased its expected earnings to $0.06 to $0.08 per share.
