That's according to online game tracker and social platform Raptr, whose latest note pinned average WoW game session lengths at 2.1 hours in the days that followed the release of the MMORPG's latest expansion, Cataclysm. Average total playtime on Cataclysm's December 7 launch day was 6.23 hours, also similar to the first-day average playtime session for first-person shooters like Call of Duty and Halo Reach, Raptr said. Raptr is a gaming community app that is able to track hours played on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Steam and Xfire. The company also said only 11 percent of all WoW players generated 50 percent of all playtime hours during the time surveyed. The MMORPG's top player as tracked by Raptr logged 149 hours in one week following the Cataclysm launch. "Even in a massively addictive and deeply enthralling game like WoW, it is also filled a good chunk of leisure gamers who will get the expansion pack on day one, but only play a few hours here and there," reads Raptr's blog. "There appears to be a distinct yin yang balance between avid gamers and leisure gamers in just about any game, which results in playtime averages that hover around the same range."
