Despite missing its target of 2 million PlayStation 3 units shipped before the end of the last year, a new report from financial website Bloomberg indicates that Sony continues to push towards its target of six million units shipped by the end of March. According to the report, a Sony spokesperson has confirmed that the company is maintaining its previously stated goal of shipping 6 million PlayStation 3 consoles by the end of Sony's financial year, which concludes in March. In addition, citing statements made by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe head of corporate communications Nick Sharples during the CeBIT 2007 show in Germany, Sony plans to provide PlayStation 3 shipment estimates on May 13 for the the 2007 fiscal year, which end March 2008. Finally, Sharples also reportedly confirmed statements made by Sony executive Phil Harrison during GDC that the recently announced PlayStation Home, a PS3-specific online world with clothing and avatar customization, will roll out as a large-scale beta trial this April. The service is expected to launch this fall exclusively for the PlayStation 3.
