Media reports suggest that former Ubisoft senior vice president Jay Cohen will head the new game studio formed by MTV Games and Jerry Bruckheimer Films. The two companies announced plans for a new "game incubation" studio in December 2007, with the aim of overseeing every element of game creation -– from pre-production to marketing. Apart from revealing an intention to use only external developers, few other details have since been revealed. The studio has claimed it will primarily be involved in "new game concepts and intellectual properties," rather than titles based on any of Bruckheimer’s film or TV releases. The latest reports come from The Cut Scene weblog, which claims that "numerous sources" have confirmed Cohen’s appointment. One of the most senior executives at Ubisoft’s North American headquarters, Cohen left the company earlier this month for destinations unknown. No official comment has been made regarding Cohen’s supposed appointment, but if true, it may mean that the studio is close to making a new public announcement about its future plans.
