MTV Games, Harmonix and EA announced a price cut for Rock Band's Instrument Edition in Europe, bringing the suggested retail price down to €140 in mainland and £110 in UK ($198/$192). The Xbox 360 edition of the bundle, which launched in the region last May, previously sold for €170 in mainland Europe and £130 in UK ($240/$226 respectively). Sold separately from the actual disc, which is priced at £87/€70 ($98/$99), the pack contains a guitar, drum, and microphone controller. PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, and Wii versions of the rhythm game and bundle will begin shipping to retailers in Europe this week, starting with the UK. Those Rock Band releases will then arrive in France the week of September 15th, then in Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden, Belgium, Netherlands, Austria and Luxembourg the week of September 22nd, and finally in Spain the week commencing September 29th. The European version of Rock Band features the 58 tracks from the North American release as well as nine new songs aimed at different European markets, all of which were previously released in the U.S. as purchasable downloadable tracks for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Rock Band’s North American downloadable library of over 200 songs has also been made available to players in Europe.
