RoninWorks has just announced the availability of its first product--a 3D input controller and motion capture device integrated into a normal desktop mouse. Currently shipping with plug-ins for Maya and 3ds Max, the BurstMouse Bundle consists of a Logitech optical mouse, with a Cymouse 3D sensor attached to the front end, the receiver, and plugins for 3D camera /object manipulation and single-point motion capture. The device functions as a normal 2D mouse when operated on the table, but when lifted a few inches and the scroll wheel is pressed, the movement of the mouse in 3D space directly controls the current viewpot's camera position with nearly complete 6DOF (the device doesn't detect roll). Pressing the left mouse button does the same thing for the currently selected object. Additionally, the MiniMocap plugin allows you to create single-point motion capture paths directly in free space, Available immediately, the complete bundle lists for $350.
