Today's round-up includes news of Activision's support of a Tony Hawk-related charity, Jason Scott's plans for a text adventure-related documentary, and Vin Diesel's scribe choice for the Hitman movie, as well as today's product news and Gamasutra job postings. - Activision, publisher of the Tony Hawk series since 1999, announced support for the second annual Stand Up for Skateparks event, a fundraiser for the Tony Hawk Foundation to create free skateparks throughout the country. The 2005 benefit will be held on October 23 in Beverly Hills, CA, and feature special guests as well as a silent auction to raise money. "Activision is committed to Tony's mission to bring, through skating, self-respect and self-confidence to the youths that need it most," said Activision CEO Bobby Kotick. - Jason Scott, director of the acclaimed 8-episode BBS Documentary indie DVD, has announced that his next project will be a film covering text adventures. Titled Get Lamp, the project is currently in its initial stages, as Scott researches the subject and prepares his approach. Filming and interviews are expected to begin in 2006, and Scott has set up a mailing list for interested viewers to be contacted when the film is complete. "The history of this interesting genre of game and entertainment is now over 30 years," says Scott in the project FAQ, "and I think the time has come to tell its story." More details are available at the project website. - Vin Diesel, star of Pitch Black and XXX, has confirmed that he will star in the film adaptation of Eidos' Hitman series, but new information from Variety has revealed that the script to this game adaptation will be written by Skip Woods, whose major previous credit is Swordfish, and executive-produced by Diesel himself.
