Today's round-up includes a survey on U.S. Hispanic media use, all about 'Gaming For The People' in Denmark, and Midway's billion-dollar licensing deal, as well as the latest product news and Gamasutra job postings. - A survey by research firm ICR indicates that U.S. Hispanics are comparatively more likely than other Americans to buy home entertainment products and media, including DVRs, cable, movies, music, and video games. The key data point relating to games was that Hispanics are 47% likely to own a game system, compared to 40% of the general population. The survey sampled 1,001 Hispanic adults compared to a general pool of 4,000 adults from June 14 to 27th. "These findings highlight the values placed on their family and the home that is common across the diversity of Latin cultures," said ICR Executive VP Melissa Herrmann. "It also shows the influence of the younger Hispanic generation on their overall household spending." - Diginet, DR, and the IT University of Copenhagen have announced a workshop in Denmark to be held on Games and Public Service. The event, called Gaming For The People, and composed of seven sessions with a lunch break and two intermissions, will concentrate on serious games that deal with political and social issues, for consoles, PCs, and mobile phones. The workshop will take place from 9:15 AM to 4:45 PM on Friday, September 23, at the IT University of Copenhagen. - Midway Games, tongue firmly in cheek, has announced a 22-year exclusivity deal with "The League," the fictitious football organization that forms the basis of its upcoming Blitz: The League. For a sum "rumored to be in the billion-dollar range," Midway will be able to use the 150 years of The League's history and its associated Players Group roster in video games for consoles, PCs, handheld systems, mobile phones, standalone TV Games, in-flight entertainment, casual Web platforms, DVD extras, and advertising for all of the above. - Also updated today: product news including GameSpy's announcement of its online middleware for Sony's PSP, Character Animation Technologies' release of the CAT2 plug-in for 3ds Max, and today's Gamasutra job postings, including positions from the Centers for Creative Technologies, Datascope Recruitment, Disney Buena Vista Games, Gameloft, Idol Minds, LucasArts, Pandemic Studios, Radical Entertainment, Sony Computer Entertainment America, and Vigil Games.
