Today's round-up includes news of a new non-profit website targeted toward Indian game developers, the latest news on a feature film version of Konami's Castlevania series, and I-Play's use of Immersion's VibeTonz technology in its games, as well as the latest product news and Gamasutra job postings. - The India Game Developers Guild website has launched, as an online community gathering point for India-based game developers. The Guild, a non-profit organization, will host through the website guidance and support for developers, online forums for different systems, job listings and online resumes, a directory of Indian game development companies, technical and industry-related feature articles, a news wire, and event calendar. Registration for the website is free of charge to Indian game developers. - Paul W.S. Anderson, director of the Resident Evil and Mortal Kombat movies, has announced that his next game-related film project will be an adaptation of Konami's Castlevania series. Details are still a bit sketchy, but it seems as if Anderson's take on the franchise will look at the origins of the Belmonts' multi-generational struggle against Dracula. The scenario is reminiscent of 2003's Castlevania: Lament of Innocence, but there are no indications that Anderson intends to use Leon Belmont or other established characters. No screenwriter or potential release date was announced. - Immersion Corp. and I-Play have entered into an arrangement to add Immersion's VibeTonz technology to I-Play's mobile phone games. The VibeTonz system uses the vibration features inherent in many cellular phones, as an alternate ring whenever the phone is silenced, for a sort of force-feedback in mobile games. The first two I-Play titles to use the VibeTonz system will be 2 Fast 2 Furious, already available through Verizon Wireless, and Metal Slug Mobile, both playable on Samsung's SCH-n330 handset. "VibeTonz effects add a whole new level of fun and excitement during mobile game play. I-play is looking forward to adding more VibeTonz-enabled games to its stellar catalog of fun, high quality mobile games," said I-Play COO David Gosen. - Also updated today: product news including GameSpy's latest multiple licensees for its online middleware packages, plus today's Gamasutra job postings from companies including Activision, Luxoflux, Vicarious Visions, Datascope Recruitment, LucasArts, Nintendo, Sony Computer Entertainment America, and Digital Chocolate.
