Today's round-up includes news of Nintendo's 5,000th Fun Center donation, the release of the Prey SDK, and Ageia's plans for Digital Life, as well as the latest Game Career Guide updates, Serious Games Source posts, GameSetWatch posts and Gamasutra job postings. - Representatives from Nintendo of America have announced that the company is donating its 5,000th Fun Center hardware bundle to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles at 10 am on October 12. The major console hardware and software company has been a longtime manufacturer of Fun Centers for the Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation, which were first designed by Nintendo and Starlight Starbright more than a decade ago to combat the anxiety and weariness faced by hospitalized children. The latest center, which will be opened with the help of actress Jamie Lee Curtis, will feature a Sharp AQUOS liquid crystal flat-screen monitor, a DVD player and a GameCube. In addition, Don James, executive vice president of operations at Nintendo, commented that the company “will begin shipping new-and-improved Fun Centers to hospitals starting in summer 2007.” These new centers will include Nintendo's upcoming Wii console, which will ship on November 19 in North America. - Developers Human Head and 3D Realms have announced the release of the Prey SDK, which will allow players to create their own mods for the PC version of the first-person shooter. The SDK includes all of the game code, as well as some code examples/tutorials to assist in building content for Prey. The SDK is available for free from the 3D Realms website. - Physics technology firm Ageia Technologies today announced that it plans to showcase a series of upcoming PhysX games and PCI-Express add-in boards at at Ziff Davis' annual DigitalLife Summit, to be held October 12-15 in New York. In addition, Ageia will give daily presentations in the Digital Life Theater and host a “celebrity appearance” on Sunday, October 15. Among the PhysX-powered games confirmed to be shown by Ageia will be CellFactor, Infernal, Black-out Saigon and Stoked Rider: Alaska Alien. Further demonstrating Ageia's technology will be the RealityMark benchmark, Dark Physics toolkit and the latest in its game physics feature advancements. - The latest updates on Gamasutra sister alt.gaming weblog GameSetWatch include some new info on Nolan Bushnell's uWink gaming restaurant, a look at the recently released MMO-focused Massive Magazine, and GameTap serving up the original “Sam & Max” animated series. - News on Gamasutra's game education sister site Game Career Guide includes a continuing critique of Katamari Damacy for the PlayStation 2. - Also updated today: the latest Gamasutra job postings, including openings from ATI Technologies, Backbone Entertainment, Bungie Studios, Incredible Technologies, LucasArts, Pipeworks, Pipeworks, Sony Computer Entertainment America, The Collective, and the Walt Disney Internet Group.
