Today's round-up includes information on the latest top-selling PC games, details of a deal that may see Destroy All Humans! become a CG animated TV series, and unfortunate news for the Video Games Live tour, as well as today's product news and Gamasutra job postings. - The top 10 best-selling North American PC games of the week ending October 15th have been released by the NPD Group. #1 is The Sims 2: Nightlife, while Black and White 2 makes a nice showing at #2. In third is World of Warcraft, Battlefield 2 takes #4, and The Sims 2 on its own is #5. After that, Myst V: End of Ages comes in at #6, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War: Winter Assault is 7th, Guild Wars is #8, Doom 3 rides the movie's release to come back to #9, and Rome: Total War: Barbarian Invasion settles in at #10. - Fox has picked up the rights to THQ and Pandemic's Destroy All Humans!, but as a network TV show, rather than the feature film that many prominent games are now seeing. The option was sold as a half-hour CGI animated show, produced by "King of the Hill" writer and executive producer Jim Dauterive. So far, the option being sold doesn't necessarily mean that 20th Century Fox TV, the production house, will order any episodes, but the fact that it is being developed specifically as a CGI show may indicate progress in development. Since the project is so early, no expected or estimated air date was given. - The Video Games Live touring concert, which had a successful Hollywood Bowl concert in July, and features live orchestras and bands playing video game themes, has been greatly scaled back from its former plans, and has cancelled its upcoming concerts with the exception of dates in Seattle and Vancouver on October 29 and October 30, apparently due to low ticket sales in certain markets. "The bottom line is that the goals we established for this tour were simply too ambitious," read an explanatory message from VGL co-founder (alongside Tommy Tallarico) and composer Jack Wall. The tour is scheduled to continue on a smaller scale, focusing on individual engagements, and plans are being made for additional shows in specific markets across North America for 2006. - Also updated today: product news including the announcements of Kaneva's MMO Game Platform, Scaleform's new cross-platform GUI game solutions for games, and today's Gamasutra job postings, including positions from Climax, Gameloft, Mad Doc Software, Midway Games, Retro Studios, Surreal Software, and Wideload Games.
