Science of Computer Programming magazine, a publication of Elsevier devoted to conceptual and practical issues in computer programming, is devoting an issue to the study of programming in the video game industry. The issue will look at general questions relating to game programming, such as tools and languages. The video game issue will be handled by guest editor Dr. Karl de Leeuw, who will decide from original submissions written specifically for the issue. Potential topics include programming languages used in games, evolution of programming languages due to games, the special challenges of programming for MMORPGs, and software agents in games. Those interested in submitting an article still have some time to produce a submission; the deadline is October 1, 2005. Selected authors will be notified by January 15, 2006, and the special issue of the magazine will be released in summer of 2006. Submission details can be found at the magazine's website.
