Representatives from Sega of America and Sega Europe have announced five new Genesis titles to be added to the Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console in the first quarter of 2007, including beat'em-up classic Streets of Rage. Apart from Streets of Rage, the beat'em-up first released in 1991 for the Sega Genesis as a rival of Capcom's Final Fight series, Sega has also announced Bio-Hazard Battle, a 2D side-scrolling 'bio-genetic' shooter released in 1992. Also coming this quarter from Sega is the 1991 Genesis overhead action title Gain Ground, cult fourth-wall breaking beat'em-up Comix Zone, and wacky 2-player platformer Bonanza Bros.. Precise release dates for the Virtual Console additions have yet to be announced, as well as specific prices, though Genesis games traditionally start at 800 points ($8) per title. Said Sega of American marketing VP, "The Wii Shop Channel is a great avenue for gamers who want instant access to classic SEGA Genesis titles. Legendary titles such as Streets of Rage, Comic Zone and Bonanza Bros. are a perfect fit for this platform and will be ready for download later this month."
