The deadlock at the top of the Japanese sales charts, dominated now for weeks by Capcom’s Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G on PSP and Nintendo’s Mario Kart Wii, has finally been broken with a new number one. Sega’s new sports simulation on the Nintendo DS translates as Let’s Make a Pro Baseball Team! and is part of a long running series in Japan, though the only entry to be released in the West was from sister franchise Let's Make a Soccer Team!. With sales still at a low ebb in Japan, the game made its debut at number one with just 59,000 units sold. The second highest new entry of the week, at number five, is a rare Nintendo published role-playing game for the Nintendo DS. Developed by DK Jungle Climber developer Paon, the game, whose name translates as Glory of Hercules, sold an initial 23,000 units. The final new entry at number seven is the first Nintendo DS version of visual novel Hiiro no Kakera, whose previous entries in the series have all appeared on the PlayStation 2. Published by Idea Factory, the game debuted with only 15,000 unit sales. Elsewhere in the top thirty, the next highest new entry is the Xbox 360 version of Electronic Arts and Valve’s The Orange Box, followed by Nintendogs/Dogz style pet simulator Ochaken no Heya DS 3 on the Nintendo DS at number seventeen. Published by Spike in Japan, Ubisoft and Free Radical Design’s Haze on PlayStation 3 appears at number twenty-three, while visual novel Princess Nightmare enters the charts at number thirty.
