New Zealand developer Sidhe Interactive has been awarded an unspecified amount of funding from government agency TechNZ. Sidhe is best known for racing/puzzle hybrid GripShift, as well as licensed games such as Jackass: The Game and Speed Racer. The company will use the funding to create a new game development framework intended to aid multiplatform development, saving wasted man hours of programming and reducing platform compliance issues on future projects. TechNZ is the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology’s business investment program, and invests more than $50 million each year in New Zealand businesses. "With our rich console game production history we’re acutely aware of the requirements of cross-platform development and the need to create reusable technology to lower development costs, reduce risk and improve quality,' says Tyrone McAuley, technical director and co-founder of Sidhe Interactive. "We’re confident we’re addressing one of the largest issues for this and future generations of game development and the TechNZ funding will enable us to reach our goals faster."
