Autodesk and 3D tool provider Turbo Squid have announced the new Autodesk Certified Animation Plug-in Program (ACAP), formerly the Discreet Ceritified 3ds Max Plug-in Program. Turbo Squid, which owns the world’s largest collection of freeware 3D products, will be the worldwide publisher and distributor for the ACAP program, which will offer 17 premium certified plug-ins for 3ds Max and Autodesk VIZ users, with several more ACAPs in development. Features of the program include a unified floating license system for all new ACAP tools, allowing users to share the software, free video training, and interoperability with the older ACAP tools. “The ceritified plug-ins and extensions that Turbo Squid delivers to the vast 3ds Max software artist community worldwide has now aligned its branding with Autodesk branding,” said Annie Normandin, software product manager for 3ds Max. “Turbo Squid continues to provide an outstanding service that tests, certifies, and sells plug-ins and extensions that allow 3ds Max artists to realize their creative ideas.” Compatible with 3ds Max version 7, the plug-ins are currently available from Turbo Squid, Autodesk, or authorized Turbo Squid resellers. The new ACAPs will also be available for demonstration at Autodesk’s Siggraph booth, and the Turbo Squid/Ballistic Media booth.
