Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has confirmed that it will be releasing a special hardware bundle featuring both a specially designed slimline PlayStation 2 and Square Enix's long-awaited PS2 title Final Fantasy XII on March 16th in Japan. The PlayStation 2 hardware itself will feature a special 'Judge Master' design on the surface of the black-colored box - Judge Master is one of the main characters in Final Fantasy XII, which has been extensively delayed, and launches in standalone form on the same day in Japan. The bundle, apart from the hardware and FFXII software, also ships with a vertical stand and one Dual Shock 2 controller, and has an 'open' price, a Japanese term which means that there is no RRP for the bundle to adhere to, and retailers will set a fair market price. There's currently no information regarding a possible Western hardware bundle for Final Fantasy XII, or, indeed, confirmation of a release date for FFXII outside Japan. An English-language demo of the game shipped on a bonus disc alongside Dragon Quest VIII in North America late in 2005.
