Sony Computer Entertainment has announced that SCEA's president and CEO Kazuo Hirai and SCEE's president and CEO David Reeves have been promoted to executive vice presidents of Sony Computer Entertainment's corporate executive group, giving the execs greater strategic control. Popular consumer website GameSpot has partially translated a report released by Sony which indicated that "both Kazuo Hirai and David Reeves will be deeply involved in corporate strategy for the SCE Group from now on, in addition to handling business in North America and Europe." Hirai took the role of president at SCEA in 2003, and has recently been one of Sony's foremost public speakers in defending the PlayStation 3 price announcement news, an extremely important role for the company in order to counter some of the negative buzz that occurred directly after E3. Reeves took over from Chris Deering as president and CEO of SCEE in 2004, and has also been vocal in post-E3 comments, suggesting most recently that Sony's priority with regards to its next-generation console is not to increase market share, but rather to "grow the industry" by a margin of 15 percent annually if possible. Both executives joined Sony in 1995.
