Sony's PSP Tops Japanese Charts, PlayStation 3 Sales Remain Unchanged

Sony's PSP held its place atop Japanese game hardware charts this week despite a notable sales drop, while PlayStation 3 sales remained unchanged as Atlus's Catherine led this week's top games.

Sony's PSP held its lead on the Japanese hardware sales charts this week despite a notable sales drop, reports tracking firm Media Create. For the week ended February 20, the standard PSP hardware sold 63,330 units, down from 106,893 units last week. The PSP go, on the other hand, saw a jump in sales from 107 units to 2,487 units. PlayStation 3 sales remained consistyent from last week, despite the PS3 version of Atlus' puzzle action game Catherine taking the top spot on the Japanese software sales charts. The Nintendo Wii sold approximate 3,000 fewer units this week, but held firm at number three on the individual hardware versions chart. Every version of the Nintendo DS saw a sales drop, and with all its hardware versions combined, the platform sold 19,032 units this week.
