Bizarre Creations Ltd., the UK-based developer of such titles as the Project Gotham series, as well as Fur Fighters: Viggo’s Revenge and the forthcoming Project: Nightmare, is one of several developers who have licensed 'real-time foliage solution' SpeedTreeRT for new video games, highlighting the increasing specificity of game-related middleware. Linden Lab has also licensed SpeedTreeRT for use in Second Life, its 3D digital world, and hopes to add the real-time foliage solution for its next generation client in Q4. Ternary Software, an established U.S. software developer entering the game market, has also licensed the product, as have Imaginary Numbers, an Australian game developer working on its first title, and Simutronics Corp, a developer of massively multiplayer online roleplaying games. SpeedTree was recently confirmed for next-generation Xbox, and also recently announced the solution has been integrated with Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 3.
