Organizers of the Games Convention Asia Conference have announced they are adding a free track of content geared toward students who are interested in learning about game development. Known as Students’ Day and sponsored by DigiPen Institute of Technology Singapore, the sub-conference will feature a series of lectures about game development by prominent industry figures. Included in the speakers’ list are Prof. Henry Jenkins of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and head of the International Game Developer’s Association Jason Della Roca. Additionally, Ubisoft’s Claude Langlais is on the roster to give a lecture on the postmortem of Assassin’s Creed. Games Convention Asia aims to promote game development in southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific region. The Games Convention Asia Conference is scheduled to take place in Singapore, September 18 through 20, 2008, with the Students’ Day being held only on September 20. Although Students’ Day is a free event, reservations are required and can be made at www.gc-asia.sg.
