Blizzard announced today comedy rock duo Tenacious D would perform at the closing ceremonies of the firm's annual BlizzCon fan gathering on October 23rd, with a performance that will include never-before-heard songs. While the $150 tickets to the fan-centered show sold out roughly 30 minutes after being made available in June, the band's performance will be viewable as part of over 50 hours of event coverage available through BlizzCon Virtual Ticket's streaming Internet video or a DirecTV Pay Per View package, both for $39.95. "The best way to wrap up two days of epic entertainment is with an epic rock concert -- and few bands fit the bill like Tenacious D,” said Blizzard CEO and Co-founder Mike Morhaime. "We’re looking forward to a great show and can’t wait to see what [Tenacious D performers] Jack [Black] and Kyle [Gass] have in store for everyone attending BlizzCon and watching from home." Last year's Blizzcon featured a closing performance from Ozzy Osbourne, while previous shows featured comics including Patton Oswalt and Jay Mohr. Tenacious D's Black voiced main character Eddie Riggs in EA's 2008 release Brutal Legend and figured heavily in the marketing for the game. Blizzcon has grown from roughly 8,000 attendees in 2005 to over 20,000 for last year's show.
