The advancement of mobile technology has been rapidly increasing for the past decade now. Mobile phones now have the ability to be used for work productivity, media consumption and even competitive games.

Mobile Games

With mobile games initially taking off thanks to Temple Run, Flappy Bird and Candy Crush, we have seen a gradual advancement regarding the overall quality and performance of games being released on mobile.

There is now a serious range available to users. From a range of light, easy to play games to brain engaging or competitive games, there is something for everyone. Take a look at a list of some of the best mobile games in 2019.

Thanks to the advancement in technology, phones now have a respectable about of processing and graphical power, which means more major games are able to be released.

Missed Opportunities in the Mobile Market

If we want to take a recent example, Call of Duty have recently released a new Battle Royale called “Warzone”. The response for the game since it dropped a few days ago have been incredible. However, there is now a common agreement that they dropped the ball by not releasing it on mobile, with many believing it would have great success on the mobile  platform.

With Call of Duty Mobile having been released last year, they may not have wanted to risk losing the player base and revenue from there. However, having both a multiplayer and battle royale mobile option may have enticed more players.

Mobile PlayerUnknown Battlegrounds (PUBG) and Fortnite are two of the most successful competitive mobile games, which Call of Duty Warzone would have been a direct competitor for.

Potential of Mobile Esports

Over the past couple of years, we have started to see a rise in major esports events on mobile games. With the performance power increase that phones have seen, it offers a low-cost way for players to engage in a competitive format. We are starting to see developers tap into this market more, and mobile esports could surprisingly lead the industry in years to come.
