Thomson’s Technicolor Content Services has announced that a new partnership with DreamWorks Animation that will bring new "world class animation capabilities" to its India based subsidiary Paprikaas Animation Studios. Thomson first announced its investment in Paprikaas in February, saying it would give the company "added capabilities and resources to capture the growing industry demand for high end 3-D digital animation for feature films, television animation, commercial advertising and video games." Thomson says the deal will see DreamWorks assisting the Bangalore studio "in the recruitment, training and development of top-tier animation talent to the Paprikaas facility in India," and notes that the team's work on the children's TV series FARMkids was recently awarded "Best TV Series" honors at the Australian Effects and Animation Festival. Said Thomson CEO Frank E. Dangeard, “We are honored to combine our capabilities with those of DreamWorks Animation, a recognized leader in its space, and we are committed to creating a center of animation excellence with DreamWorks in India. This strategic alliance is an important step for Thomson: animation represents a significant opportunity for us to expand our content services offering into the media and entertainment industries.”
