THX Launches Videogame Certification Program

THX today announced a sound and visual certification standard for videogames, with EA Games as its first recipient. The certification program includes game mixing room analysis and standardization, and the ability for developers to test their work as they create it. In an interview with Game Developer magazine, THX director of advanced technology Mark Tuffy said that THX’s goal is to “let the gamer see and hear what the game artist intended.” EA Games’ upcoming THX-certified titles include: * The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King * SSX 3 * Medal of Honor: Rising Sun * Need for Speed Underground * James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing
