The Heritage Foundation's manifesto for the possible next administration could do great harm to many, including large portions of the game development community.
UK trade association Tiga has announced a new five-tier membership structure aimed to scale for studios of all sizes -- including a "copper" membership for two-member teams.
UK game developer trade association Tiga has announced a new membership structure which will feature five levels == platinum, gold, silver, bronze and copper. Each tier relates to the size of the business and its number of employees. The lowest-level "copper" membership is for developers with a maximum of two employees and is intended to ensure the association can support every level of developer. Tiga aims to give developers benefits such as political representation, trade support and networking and resource-sharing. "From today, Tiga membership will be open to start-up and early stage games businesses. This will enable micro games firms to also benefit from Tiga membership," said Tiga CEO Richard Wilson, as he welcomed London-based Flash developer JohnnyTwoShoes to the organization as its first copper member. "JohnnyTwoShoes needs good advice and information to help us drive forward in the fast paced games industry. Tiga will enable us to move from business as usual to a new level of performance and growth. I would encourage other small and start-up firms to join Tiga too," said Maxwell Scott-Slade of JohnnyTwoShoes. Added Wilson: "Expanding the opportunities to join Tiga demonstrates our commitment to the entire UK games development community, from one man bands to large businesses."
