The UK's National Film Theater, located at the South Bank Centre in central London, has announced a weekend of video game related lectures, presentations, and screenings, named NTI* (Non-Trivial Interaction). The weekend will feature Lionhead's Peter Molyneux, alongside a panel, discussing the importance of games to popular culture, plus Bill Van Buren from Half-Life 2 creator Valve discussing facial animation and emotional impact, Silent Hill movie scripter Roger Avary on adapting games into movies, Gamasutra columnist and Spider-Man 2 creative director Jamie Fristrom on 'The Action Movie Aesthetic', Eidos' Ian Livingstone on the rise of Lara Croft, Jonathan Smith discussing the creation of the well-received Lego Star Wars, and other game industry luminaries. There will also be other events spotlighting the crossing-over point between film and games, including a 'pitch session' of imagined movie licensed from real developers, and exhibitions of machinima movies constructed using real-time video game engines. The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th July, and further information will be available on the official NFT site in the near future. [UPDATE: June 7th, 8.07am PST - more specific information provided to us by the organizers has revealed further details of the NTI* schedule.]
