The release of Dreamworks’ animated movie Madagascar in Britain has had a predictable effect on the success of the game tie-in, with Toys For Bob and Activision’s child-friendly title jumping to the top of the UK sales charts. The company’s other movie tie-in of the week, Fantastic 4, may be destined for a similar boost when that movie is released on the 22nd July in the UK, and indeed has gained a higher debut in the charts than Madagascar originally managed at number eight (although that game came out two weeks before the movie, instead of just one with Fantastic 4). The next highest entry of the week is Capcom’s Killer 7, which has actually done better than many might have expected, for such an unconventional title, at number fifteen. In addition, the GameCube version of the game accounted for 67 percent of sales, which can be attributed to the game’s early history as a proposed GameCube exclusive and the last of the so-called 'Capcom 5', as well as its technical superiority to the PlayStation 2 version and the relative lack of new GC software. With few other releases scheduled for the next few weeks, there are no other new entries in the top forty, although new movie tie-in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is expected to make its debut next week in a relatively high position.
