Electronic Arts and Konami’s two warring soccer simulations are a rare point of interest in an otherwise quiet week in the UK games market – although this is likely only to be the quiet before the storm of new releases due in the following weeks. The greater longevity of EA’s FIFA series has been proven already, with Pro Evolution Soccer slipping one space after only a week atop the charts. It still remains the best ever performance for Konami’s series, though, and the game should continue to do well throughout the Christmas period. The only new entry in the top ten is also a soccer title, LMA Manager 2005, with Codemasters’ console-orientated management game performing well in a sub-genre usually associated with the PC. The only other new entry in the top twenty is X-Men Legends, at a relatively disappointing number eighteen – although the brand is arguably somewhat less popular in the UK and Europe than in North America.
