Nintendo has announced that this week’s addition of three new classic games to the Wii’s Virtual Console will include Genesis beat ‘em-up Eternal Champions, NES shoot ‘em-up Zanac and Wonder Boy variant The Dynastic Hero.
Nintendo has announced that this week's regular Wii Shop update will see the addition of three new classic games to the channel's offerings for Virtual Console, all available as of 9:00 AM PST on December 3rd. In keeping with most other releases during the Christmas gift buying season the games are of a lower profile than previous months, with the most well known being Sega Genesis title Eternal Champions. A reaction to popular 2D beat ‘em-ups of the time such as Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat, the 1993 game still has a small but vocal fan base. The T for Teen rated game supports 1 to 2 players and is available for 800 Wii Points ($8). Zanac was original released for the NES game in 1987, as a vertically scrolling shoot ‘em-up from Japanese developer Compile, who were also responsible for retro favourites such as Aleste and Blazing Lazers. The game is rated E for Everyone and is available for 500 Wii Points ($5). The Dynastic Hero for the TuboGrafx-16 CD-ROM is one of many variations of the Wonder Boy franchise, whose underlying gameplay has been licensed to a number of different companies. This version is based on Wonder Boy in Monster World for the Genesis, with a new hero and back story. The game is rated E for Everyone and is available for 800 Wii Point ($8).
