Just a few years ago, the world was introduced to the new technology of Virtual Reality (VR) and since its inception in 1962; VR technology has taken the gaming industry by a storm. Virtual reality experience is all about experiencing the virtual world in reality. Thereafter many developers have started working on the concept of transforming the real world into virtual one. The first company who came up with the HDM (head-mounted display) headset for Virtual Reality is Oculus with the device named Oculus Rift. Today, there is a bunch of companies who are developing VR headsets.

VR future of gaming

A research of Deloitte Global predicts that VR will help to build a billion dollar industry in future. It says, “There are likely to be two main types of VR device in 2016: ‘full feature’ and ‘mobile.' The former incorporates high-resolution screens and are likely to cost about $350-$500 (with prices at the start of the year possibly being higher), and we estimate between 1.0–1.75 million sales in 2016, with volumes depending heavily on the initial price. Full feature devices will likely be designed for use with either latest generation games consoles or PCs with advanced graphics cards capable of driving high refresh rates. ‘Mobile VR’ incorporates a high-end smartphone’s screen into a special case, enabling the headset to fit more-or-less snugly on the user’s head. This is likely to cost from about $100, and we forecast that at least half a million units will be sold in 2016. Both types of VR would provide a high-quality VR experience, with the caliber of full feature VR being noticeably superior, at least in 2016 and out to 2020.”

Besides the education, pharmacy, automobile, VR has an enormous impact on gaming. This study shows developing games in Virtual Reality is completely rewarding in today’s market. With the innovation of Oculus Rift, Samsung Gear VR, HTC Vive, PlayStation VR, today we are experiencing the games in a complete virtual world. If we track down the reports of the gaming industry, we will observe it has become the mainstream in the market.

According to the latest research study by Newzoo shows that in last year, the game developers worldwide have generated a total of $99.6 billion in revenues and also says, “The global market to grow with a CAGR of +6.6% toward 2019, eventually reaching $118.6 billion with mobile gaming at $52.5 billion.”

On the other hand, Virtual Reality is transforming the gaming industry into total immersive field transporting players into the complete 3D immersive virtual world. VR is an epic innovation to demonstrate what cutting edge technology is suited for today. It improves the screen resolution and also the game experience. Many VR game development companies are already developing VR-based games. Examples are Arizona Sunshine, Star Citizen, Eagle Fight and Superhot VR. Witnessing the realm of the VR games, most of the PC, Console, and mobiles games are exceptionally being released in Virtual reality field. So, we can say Virtual Reality is going to run the future of gaming industry.
