Graphics tablet manufacturer Wacom, in partnership with Abertay University's "Dare to be Digital" competition, announced a game design contest for its Bamboo range of pen and touch tablets. The first-ever "Dare with Bamboo" competition challenges game design students to create "Bamboo Mini" games -- casual titles or applications that take advantage of the unique hardware functionality of Bamboo devices. Contestants will use Wacom's Bamboo Dock SDK to design a small (less than 3MB in size) game or application to enter in the contest. The competition is open to any young adult who is not already part of a team entered in Abertay's main "Dare to be Digital" design contest. A panel of experts at Wacom and from the games industry will choose five games as winners to be showcased at the Dare Protoplay event during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August. The top overall entry, to be announced at Dare Protoplay, will receive a £1,000 grand prize. Competitors must register their intent to enter by May 30th at Dare to be Digital's website. Completed entries must be submitted by July 11th.
