Additionally, author and artist Art Spiegelman, best known for the genre-bending autobiographical, historical, Holocaust memoir, graphic-novel style books Maus I and Maus II, has also joined the board. Both Spiegelman and Wright were speakers at the MDM program’s summer speaker series, Krazy Talk! Industry Giants, presented by the Masters of Digital Media Program jointly with Vancouver Art Gallery and held at the Centre for Digital Media. The 20-month graduate MDM program offers a project-based curriculum for students interested in careers in digital media, including video game development. The program has only been around for one year (it launched in September 2007). In addition to being a co-founder of Maxis, Wright was given the Game Developers Choice Awards Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001. And in 2007, he was the first game developer to be awarded a BAFTA fellowship.
