The competitive gaming trainer Play2Improve is set to launch this week with the help of over 200 marketing and business students enrolled at the University of Abertay Dundee, who are promoting the product for course credit. Play2Improve's free-to-use FPS Trainer aims to improve user skill in the first-person shooter genre "by simulating live action and using learning tools based on psychological research," and will earn revenue through personal tuition and premium features. The project was incubated at Abertay University, where marketing students worked to develop, pitch, and test marketing ideas for Play2Improve. "Gaining real-world experience has never been more important," said Abertay marketing lecturer Jason Turner. "By letting our students work directly with a real company and offer real advice, they are learning exactly what's involved in assessing a company's needs, their marketplace and how to be successful." Turner continues: "We ran a pilot of this scheme last year, and it went so well that now every undergraduate Marketing student is getting the chance to work with these real, 'live' challenges as their coursework. FPS Trainer is a hugely enjoyable service with great market potential – and our students are helping decide how to launch it and grow a profitable user base." FPS Trainer will launch at the NEoN digital arts festival on Thursday, November 11th.
