Officials from Turner's GameTap subscription PC 'all you can eat' gaming service have announced two new online video offerings designed to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Eidos' popular action adventure franchise Tomb Raider, including a new online documentary and an original animated series. The documentary, titled “10 Years of Tomb Raider – A GameTap Retrospective,” will profile the iconic video game series by looking back at the creators, video games, live-action models, and the fans who have all helped feed Tomb Raider's growing popularity. The documentary will be available for free on the GameTap website, and new segments will be added each week through June 7. In addition, Gametap has also launched a new original animated series, “Re\Visioned,” for GameTap TV. The series, which “explores and re-imagines well known video game franchises,” will begin its inaugural season by featuring interpretations of Lara Croft by “well-known animators, comic book artists and writers.” Among those enlisted to contribute to the effort were Peter Chung, Jim Lee, Warren Ellis, Cully Hamner, Gail Simone, David Alvarez, Michael Stackpole, Brian Pulido, and Christos Gage. The first episode will be released for free on July 10 on the Gametap website, with new episodes, 10 in all, running through August 23. Gametap's deluge of Tomb Raider offerings adds to the service's recent announcement that it will carry the PC version of the upcoming Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary day and date with the game's retail release on June 5.
