The 2024 NASA Space Apps Challenge, held in Brooklyn, provided an exciting opportunity for Joseph and his team to build upon the "Butterfly Space Rescue" card game, which is set to launch on Kickstarter on October 17th 2024. Through this challenge, Joseph and his team successfully integrated NASA and GLOBE protocol data into a second game, which is an RPG game that runs parallel to the original card game. This innovative project allows players to contribute real environmental data, potentially playing a role in saving the planet.
“It was such a fun and challenging experience to link NASA and GLOBE protocol data on top of my upcoming Kickstarter project,” said Joseph Munisteri. “I couldn’t have imagined that we’d end up creating an interoperable second game that not only enhances the card game experience but also helps contribute to environmental data that benefits everyone.”

Joseph extends his heartfelt gratitude to his fellow team members, Viacheslav Markov and Inessa Royt, whose contributions were invaluable in building the "Butterfly Space Rescue" hackathon project. Their collaboration made this project an amazing experience.

The team is now hoping their project will make it through the Global Judging phase of the NASA Space Apps Challenge. Joseph also thanks Kingsborough Community College for hosting the Brooklyn event, and congratulates all participants worldwide.
