- Chrono Sword

Chrono Sword, developed by Korean indie team 21c.Ducks, is a pixel art Souls-like action RPG telling the story of the protagonist traveling between the past and future in order to discover the secrets behind the collapse of the gothic dark fantasy world of Adelnor. It is planned to be released to Steam Early Access this year, getting an official launch to PC, Playstation™, Nintendo Switch™, and Xbox in 2025.

First announced in 2019, this Souls-like action RPG attracted attention at home and abroad for its unique graphics and gameplay. Then in 2020, it was selected as the first work in the collaboration campaign between North American crowdfunding website Kickstarter and global game test platform G.Round, successfully raising more than $70,000 USD to achieve its funding goal. Developer 21c.Ducks has been submitting Chrono Sword to a number of domestic and international game shows (awarded for excellence in a number of cases), using these as a chance to polish both gameplay and level design.

Chrono Sword stands out among the other Souls-like action RPGs on the market, most rendered in full 3D graphics, by choosing to present the game in pixel art with a quarter viewpoint, while also staying faithful to the essence of the Souls-like genre. Since its announcement, developer 21c.Ducks has poured heart and soul into creating a strong storyline and improving upon the action and RPG elements that will go into their Souls-like adventure.

Chrono Sword renders its vast, three-dimensional game world in pixel art. In stepping into the role of time traveler, players can freely venture between the past, present, and future, seamlessly traversing each map without loading screens. It has implemented various gameplay systems to maintain the heavy hits common to the Souls-like genre while also creating faster, more intense action.

Alongside this announcement, CFK is unveiling new key art for Chrono Sword. This key art will be the first time players get to see two playable characters, one male and one female, that will lead them through the story of the game. This new key art depicts the desperate struggle of these characters as they journey to prevent the destruction of their world. This newly unveiled official key art will also be featured at the Happinet booth as a large poster.

- Shikhondo: Youkai Rampage

Shikhondo: Youkai Rampage, created by Korean indie developer Deerfarm, is a vertically scrolling shoot ‘em up (bullet hell) game that has players avoiding the attacks of Youkai escaping the depths of hell, acquiring souls, and defeating waves of enemies with strong attacks, all set to an Eastern background. It was released globally on Steam in April and is planned to be released to the Nintendo Switch™ this year. Shikhondo: Youkai Rampage is a “perfected” version of the 2017 Shikhondo: Soul Eater release that, in cooperation with CFK, improved upon the original’s gameplay and added new game modes, all to present this refined version to players on Steam and the Nintendo Switch™. In doing so, it increased the accessibility of this game, as it now appeals to everyone from casual gamers to shoot ‘em up enthusiasts.

After the announcement of the collaboration with CFK to create Shikhondo: Youkai Rampage, the game has taken part in a number of on and offline events to attract attention to the game. In addition to February’s Steam Next Fest and the Tokyo Game Summit 2024, it was also featured at the Shooters Fes 2024, planned and operated by the Mikado City Connection Retro Arcade Center, on April 6th, in order to introduce this newly reborn and perfected version of Shikhodo, letting the fun of the game leave a lasting impression on gamers.

- Ninja Issen (忍者一閃)

Ninja Issen (忍者一閃) is a ninja action game set against the backdrop of a virtual cyberpunk future city rendered in retro graphics, featuring one-on-many fights where players experience the pleasure of defeating waves of enemies with a single slash of their blade and boss battles requiring players to put a variety of ninja skills to use in order to defeat the bosses that stand in their way, each equipped with various attack patterns that come non-stop.

Ninja Issen (忍者一閃) first attracted attention last year when it was named the “Best Indie Game” at the 2022 Made with Unity (MWU) Korea awards show, a contest held by Unity Korea for games coded in the Unity engine. Following that, it continued to draw attention before and after its release by participating in a number of domestic and international game shows, including G-star 2022, PlayX4 2023, BIGS 2023, the Tokyo Game Show 2023, and the recent BitSummit 2024. Prior to its release, it ranked second amongst all Popular Upcoming games and first in the action category for Popular Upcoming games.

In January of this year, it released its new Hardcore Mode content in a free update. This multifaceted update that has gamers competing for high scores was praised for allowing players to jump into the exciting swift action. On the same day, they added an improved tutorial system, bug fixes, and other quality-of-life enhancements. Following its release to Steam in 2023, Ninja Issen (忍者一閃) is planned to be released to the Nintendo Switch™ this year.

As a side project, developer Asteroid J is currently working on a spin-off title called Shadow Zero, a new game in the Ninja Issen universe. It’s currently being developed as a roguelike set in the cyberpunk world of Ninja Issen. Detailed information regarding this release will be announced at a later date.

- Lapin

Lapin is a 2D platformer that tells of the adventures of an expedition of brave rabbits. After its release in 2023, it is planning to expand to the Nintendo Switch™ platform with the help of CFK publishing.

In embarking alongside this rabbit expedition, players will have to nimbly control their character to overcome life-threatening obstacles, meet new friends, and embark on new adventures through beautiful new lands. Players can play through five unique episodes that feature the five rabbit characters that make appearances throughout the game, gathering information that will help them progress along the way.

Players can also explore Alpha, the cave where the rabbits lived, and interact with a number of objects, even during platforming sequences. The more players explore, the more they’ll learn of the rabbits’ past and the place they currently inhabit.

- Cat Girl Survivor

Cat Girl Survivor, created by Korean game company Minimum Studio Corp., is a mobile game that will be featured at the Tokyo Game Show 2024 with the help of CFK publishing. Cat Girl Survivor is currently planned for a release to Steam and the Nintendo Switch™ in 2025.

Cat Girl Survivor is a combination roguelike/shoot ‘em up (bullet hell) game rendered in pixel graphics, popular for its simple controls and unique gameplay. More specifically, it’s known for its survival elements, having players manipulate their cat girl protagonist to defeat endless waves of monsters in order to survive.

The Steam and Nintendo Switch™ versions of the game will maintain the charm of the mobile release while improving upon the character graphics, changing control schemes, and adding new content, all to further deepen the gaming experience.
