A Newly launched Swedish Game Studio Has Sky-High Ambitions

Pigs Will Fly Studios has moved into an old courthouse in Jönköping, Sweden and transformed the space into a modern game studio with high ambitions. Founders Oskar Källner, Albin Norling, and Ingemar Åberg are combining their expertise from the music, film, and book industries to create a video game that reaches for the stars.


“This is an incredible opportunity,” says Oskar. “Of course, it’s fantastic to be able to create a game based on my own books, and the fact that we founders come from different creative fields gives us a unique chance to combine our abilities into something far greater than the sum of its parts. We aim to be one of Sweden’s absolute best game studios!”.


Pigs Will Fly Studios will develop an action game set in space, drawing inspiration from Oskar’s acclaimed book series Children of the Phoenix. The books have been sold in eight countries, including the USA and Germany, and are published in Sweden by Rabén & Sjögren. The beautiful illustrations in the books, created by Karl Johnsson, provide the studio's seven game developers with a vibrant and colorful universe to set their game in. The studio is now working on planning the game’s content and developing the first prototypes. Finishing the game will take several years, and more team members will join the studio along the way.


Pigs Will Fly Studios wants to become a creative powerhouse by sporting not only a modern game studio but also a brand-new professional music studio.


“The music studio is a hybrid studio,” says Albin. “Here, we handle recording, mixing, mastering, and mixing for the latest Dolby system, Dolby Atmos 9.1.6. We’ll work on music production for video games, music, and film, all under one roof.”


Pigs Will Fly Studios has entered the Swedish game industry with big ambitions, mixing competences from creative fields, to create a thrilling space adventure.
