Headbang Club launches Kickstarter for cyber-themed roguelite tactical RPG.

Angoulême, August 06, 2024,
DeathTower is an overclocked roguelite tactical RPG where your objective is to survive each floor of a megastructure.
Stealth, hacking, devastating weapons… Do whatever it takes to fight your way to the top.
But be careful along the way, or your body may be destroyed, forcing you to restart the adventure from the beginning!
Though officially empty, each floor has its own ecosystem, designed to serve the tower’s masters. Discover a hidden world with its own resources, challenges and dynamics that you’ll need to understand in order to keep climbing faster and higher.
The game will be developed as updates are implemented.
Planned content:
- Pick from 6 playable characters to form your squad of 4.
- Around 30 enemy types, each with their own characteristics.
- 4 very different biomes with unique challenges and bosses.
- 10+ mini bosses.
- 75 weapons.
- 75 hacks you can use to attack, defend, and manipulate the battlefield, and to summon terrifying cybercreatures.
- 10 streamlined class trees with a total of 75 skills.
Development started five years ago in 2019. To build this game, Headbang Club has created a cutting-edge pixel art rendering technology in C++ that allows for razor-sharp, carefully crafted pixels without sacrificing fidelity or lighting, while also maintaining a sense of volume and scale. This technology gives the game a very unique identity, in which every animation and art asset is beautifully handcrafted.
Now that we’ve made a certain amount of progress with the game, it’s a good time to start crowdfunding. This will help Headbang Club get a sense of the game’s real potential, and help build the game’s future hand-in-hand with our community. It’s also quite useful for putting food on the table during development, but that’s a different story.
In terms of the narrative, we prefer to keep things under wraps for now, but expect plot twists, lovable characters and reflections around what it means to be a human in a cybernetic world.

Headbang Club is an artist collective of gamedevs gone wild after their time at Motion Twin, joining forces to create a truly METAL gamedev band.
As a videogame artist collective, they create their own games and assist friends in creating theirs. They are very versatile, yet always aim for excellence in everything they do. You may already have played some of the games they’ve helped out on, including Warhammer: Mechanicus on consoles, Blanc, Kamaeru, and the soon-to-be-released Metal Slug Tactics.
Headbang Club is best known for Double Kick Heroes, the rhythm METAL-’em-up, which was very well received as part of Game Pass. Steam sales have been limited, but the game has gathered 150,000 players and brought METAL back into many people’s hearts.
It was also the only game to offer double-kick air drumming on Nintendo Switch.
The wide-ranging soundtrack was composed by Elmobo and featured guest tracks from bands like GOJIRA, JINJER, CARPENTER BRUT, VOLKOR X, GOROD, PSYKUP, BUMBLEFOOT, and more.
Headbang decided to create DeathTower during the development of Double Kick Heroes. The game has since gone through multiple iterations, but is ultimately still self-funded.
In its search for funding, Headbang Club also joined forces with Punkcake Délicieux and produced the console version of Shotgun King. Still failing to find traction with publishers, they created their own publishing line, and the game was successfully released on consoles.
Today, Headbang Club is calling on the community to help with its crowd-funding efforts for DeathTower.

Key Facts about Elmobo
An Amiga legend who has composed and performed over 150 OSTs, Elmobo is also a renowned METAL producer who has crafted the sound of countless bands, including GOROD. Everybody knows Elmobo at Hellfest – a clear sign of how serious he is about METAL.
He won a Double Ping award in 2018, beating out multiple AAAs.
He just rocks so hard.
He will oversee all audio and music, and bring all aspects of game audio together to create something truly unique
