Alibi Games launch: New full-service micro publisher and developer representative offers unique proposition

Founded by three ex-SEGA industry veterans, Alibi Games provides a unique proposition for both developers and publishers, offering full funding for indie games or helping developers find a specific publisher or commercial partnership, pre-or-post-release.

Alibi Games :

Alibi has successfully raised investment, during a period where funding has become considerably more challenging to raise, by creating a business proposition focused on ‘sustainable growth publishing’.

The founders believe this model will eventually become the standard for micro publishing.

CEO Jarvis Crofts (SEGA, Curve Games) said: ‘Alibi’s mission is to find the best games and teams and ensure they make it to the finishing line, whether with Alibi as their publisher or Alibi representing them and helping build confidence around their vision.

‘During this unprecedented period of turmoil in the game industry, incredible games and teams are being missed and publishers are lacking the reassurance and confidence to fund them.’

CSO and co-founder Luke Greenaway (SEGA, PTW, ECI Games) said: ‘Developer requirements and player expectations have changed; publishing must evolve. Alibi was created for the demands of the industry we are transitioning to.

‘Our market proposition ‘fund, represent, consult’ creates a symbiotic ecosystem, providing developers and partners with multiple viable paths to success, whilst enabling Alibi to maintain low overheads and grow sustainably.’

By design, Alibi are intentionally selective, only signing titles and working with teams they unanimously believe in. They have placed a cap on how many projects they sign per year to ensure they provide every developer with their complete attention.

This also enables them to maintain their sustainable model, without needing to scale, something only possible due to the combined individual experience of the Founders.

CPO Mark Dallamore (SEGA, consultant) said: ‘I’m incredibly grateful to be embarking on this new venture with two friends I have known since the early days of my career in gaming.

‘Fortunately, our journeys within the industry have taken different paths across business development, production and strategy within external production, development, and publisher studios. This collective experience has given us a comprehensive understanding of the gaming landscape.’

Alibi’s publishing label focuses on system driven and mechanically deep games developed by smaller teams. However, Alibi’s objective is to provide great developers the best opportunity of realising their ambitions and will represent or consult if there are more suitable publishers out there.

Alibi are excited to launch publicly, with their approach already resonating with developers and publishers since soft launching in January. The team will be attending industry events throughout the year, meeting with developers, publishers, and investors. Reach out directly to Alibi if you wish to know more.

Alibi Games are based in London, UK and work with developers, publishers and investors globally.
